Job Description:

A forklift driver is responsible for operating a forklift to safely and efficiently move goods, pallets, and materials around a warehouse or industrial facility, including loading and unloading trucks, stacking pallets, and relocating inventory while adhering to strict safety regulations and company procedures; they also perform basic equipment checks and maintenance to ensure proper functionality. 
Key responsibilities may include:
  1. Operating forklift:
Driving a forklift to move pallets and materials throughout the warehouse, including maneuvering in tight spaces and navigating around other workers and equipment. 
  1. Loading and unloading trucks:
Carefully loading and unloading goods from delivery trucks using the forklift. 
  1. Stacking and unstacking pallets:
Precisely stacking pallets in designated storage areas according to inventory control instructions. 
  1. Inventory control:
Maintaining accurate inventory by verifying product quantities and locations 
  1. Safety checks:
Performing pre-shift inspections of the forklift to ensure it is in proper working order, including checking fluid levels, lights, and brakes. 
  1. Documentation:
Completing necessary paperwork related to product movement, including receiving and shipping documents. 
  1. Following safety guidelines:
Adhering to all warehouse safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following proper forklift operation procedures. 
Required skills and qualifications:
  • Valid forklift operator license
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and good depth perception
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy loads
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for routine maintenance checks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines 
Work environment:
  • Primarily in a warehouse setting, which can be noisy and may include temperature fluctuations depending on the facility. 
  • May involve standing for extended periods and performing repetitive motions
