Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equipment Repair Technician to join our maintenance team at our fast-paced food production manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all production and facility equipment to ensure maximum uptime, optimal performance, and adherence to strict food safety standards. This role requires a strong focus on preventative maintenance (PMs), quick and effective response to breakdowns, and continuous improvement of equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repair:
    • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs on all food production equipment (e.g., mixers, conveyors, packaging machines, ovens, fillers, wrappers, labelers).
    • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using schematics, manuals, and testing instruments.
    • Execute repairs and install new components, including motors, gearboxes, sensors, PLC components, and power transmission elements.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PMs):
    • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on all machinery to minimize unplanned downtime.
    • Document all PM activities accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
    • Identify and report recurring issues to recommend long-term solutions.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space, and hot work permits.
    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, FDA regulations, and SQF standards for food safety.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Documentation & Teamwork:
    • Accurately complete work orders, log all repairs, parts used, and time spent in the CMMS.
    • Communicate effectively with production supervisors and operators regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
    • Assist in training production staff on basic equipment operation and proper cleaning procedures.

Qualifications

Required
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance or repair technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably within food or beverage production.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing 480V 3-phase electrical systems.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Compliance: Working knowledge of GMPs and food safety protocols is mandatory.
  • Must Pass Instant and Hair Follicle Drug Tests. Must Pass Background Check. Must be able to Speak and understand English Fluently.
Preferred
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Welding/fabrication skills (TIG/Sanitary welding).
  • Experience with CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Fiix).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required by production schedules and emergency repairs.
  • Work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, and loud noise (PPE is provided and required).
